Alternative Centerpiece Ideas

No matter what type of event you're having, you'll more than likely need some sort of centerpiece to place in the middle of the table. Most people opt for fresh flowers, but some decide to get creative and use anything from feathers to food to antique jars. Here are a list of some ideas for your next event:

1. Birdhouses: you can add wheatgrass or moss to spruce it up a bit
2. Thrift-store books: you can pick the genre based on your theme
3. Pies: place an assortment of flavors on a cake stand
4. Apples & Organges: they smell wonderful and add a pop of color
5. Sports Stuff: this can be anything such as hats or baseball bats
6. Origamis: you can make all the same ones or different shapes
7. Jars of Candy: instead of a candy bar, have individual jars on each table
8. Record Albums: make each table a "turntable" and place an album on each one
9. Perfume Bottles: placing different color and sizes of antique perfume looks incredible -and smells great too!
10. Wine Bottles: you can even stick a candle in each one for a vintage effect
11. Framed Pictures: depending on your event, place different pictures in each frame
12. Seashells: place them inside a jar with sand
13. Ornaments: either go seasonal or based on your theme
14. Silk Flowers: these are becoming very popular and look very, very real
15. Candle votives: placing these on top of mirrors adds a nice warm glow

Easter is right around the corner...

Looking for something fun to do with the kids for Easter?! Something different than painting eggs and/or an Easter egg hunt?! Well keep reading... I'm from Austria so when I came across this idea on MarthaStewart.com I was extremely intrigued! Apparently, if you're from Germany or Austria, you celebrate Easter by hanging hollow eggs from the branches of a tree. I've included the link from the website so that you can follow the easy steps to making your own Easter egg tree this year. It sounds like a lot of fun and looks adorable. I envy all you mothers that have time to bring these cute little ideas to life. Hopefully you get the chance to spend some quality time with your kids while making Easter a fun and enjoyable Holiday for the whole family! http://www.marthastewart.com/good-things/easter-egg-tree?backto=true&backtourl=/photogallery/decorating-for-easter#slide_21

Your Color Problems... Solved!

After consulting with a bride last week, I came to a realization that us women tend to think along the same lines. Well we think alike in so many ways, but I'm refering to our color wheel and particular taste in color schemes. My bride was telling me how she was having a few color issues and wanted some advice as to solving them. I figured- why not share it with all of you in case you run into the same issue!

Her biggest "issue" (I put quotes around it because I didn't really find it to be a big issue- more of etiquette per say) was whether or not to go with her personal taste in color or coordinate with the season. Her wedding is in the Spring but she loves Fall colors and didn't know which one took priority over the other. I told her that although richer, darker colors went better with cooler months, she didn't have to settle for anything less. By choosing a pastel color to offset a deeper Fall color, she'd get the best of both (her) worlds. She now can't decide between a deep plum and lilac or navy blue and seamist! Oh too many choices!

She also mentioned that telling her bridesmaids that they were going to wear purple or yellow (yellow was another color she was deciding on at the time) was going to be too big of a shock to them and that they'd want to back out of her wedding. To me, a rich plum bridesmaid dress sound gorgeous! Not to mention, yellow dresses would definitely make you feel right at home for a Spring wedding. The reason those color of dresses will certainly pass any bridesmaid's "back- out- or- not- back- out" test is because there are so many shades! Let me emphasize the simple fact that "yellow" can mean anywhere from goldenrod to pale yellow to lemon chiffon. Ask them how they'd feel about sorbet-inspired pastels to liven up the Spring feel. It would contrast quite nicely with the darker Fall shades even more :)

Want any other advice? Feel free to give us a call- we're full of great ideas. OR BETTER YET- check out our 4th Annual Spring Bridal Show coming up on May 1st, 2011 at Lions Park in Zionsville from 12pm- 4pm. We'll have plenty of surprises and gifts in store for you, as well as pictures and tablescapes. Come check out what we have to offer! See you there!

4th Annual Spring Bridal Show

With only a month to go, we're all getting excited here at Ace for our 4th Annual Spring Bridal Show in Zionsville. This year it will be held at the Lions Park off 334 on Sunday, May 1st from 12-4. We're thrilled to announce that we're hosting the cake dig again this year, as well as the ping-pong drop for prizes. Last year, brides were jumping in the creek to catch ping-pong balls so that they could win all the cool prizes. It was so funny to watch! They were having a blast! There's a reason why everyone loves coming to our shows AND why vendors return year after year. Come find out why...

If you've never had the chance to come out and see one of our Bridal Shows, you definitely have to come see this one! We think it will be our best show yet! Call us at (317) 872- 8368 for more details, or go to our website at http://www.acepartyandtents.com/ to look at pictures from years past.
