Ace Tip of the Week

Hi all,
This is going to be a new thing I'm going to try... an Ace Tip of the Week! The tips will be for brides, corporate parties, and just the average joe (all pertaining to event planning in some way or another, of course). Here's the first one FOR BRIDES:
*It may not occur to some brides to register for Holiday- themed china, especially if your wedding is over the Summer. But let me tell you, you won't regret it once the Holidays roll around! I know one of my friends sure wishes she thought ahead for her registry- she wouldn't have to borrow mine all the time!*
There's still a week before Christmas. If you haven't called to place an order for tables, chairs, linens, or china, then I suggest you do that ASAP! We're booking up quickly- you don't want to have to borrow anything from your friends :)

Unique Edible Wedding Favors

Hello all,
I know it's been awhile & I haven't been blogging as much as I should, but it's a brand new day & I'm ready to get things started. I've been to -and in- several weddings this Summer so I've had the chance to see many different style weddings; not to mention color schemes, centerpieces, etc. I also obviously work with brides on a daily basis so I have the pleasure of being exposed to different ideas & creativity. I searched for unique wedding favors & came across edible favors on www.brides.com and wanted to share them with you. Some ideas I found creative and unique are as follows:
* mini pies in a small basket with any color fabric makes for an adorable arrangement
* candies tied in different color tissue paper
* tiny bundt cakes in mini multi-colored monogramed boxes
* candied nuts in cellophane tubes tied with ribbon
* iced cookies with love notes or personal DIY messages
Those are just a few options to get started but I thought they were super cute! There are so many great ideas & DIY options for small & large budgets. If you have any questions or need an opinion, call us at (317) 872- 8368. Feel free to check out our websites at www.acepartyandtents.com and www.indycanalevents.com for more information and pictures! Until the next time...

Help Make Your Next Event Bigger Than Ever

There are a few ways to grab the attention of potential party- goers but you need to know what they are first. Having a large network of friends/collegues/ employers/ etc etc is a great start but you still need to entice them somehow. Have you ever tried putting on an event (could be anything) and NO ONE SHOWS UP?! It's an awful feeling. Everyone wants to be the cool kid and have the biggest, baddest party. Here are a few tips to get you started:

1. *CHOOSE A GOOD LOCATION* This goes for businesses and everything else in the world. If you plan an event in a bad area of town, that may deter people from coming. If you plan your event out in BFE (if you don't know what BFE stands for, Google it) then you may lose the people who don't want to drive more than a couple miles. Plan accordingly.

2. *YOU MUST HAVE A HOOK* This is what I briefly touched upon at the beginning. Your event must have some kind of participation from vendors or guests to keep them engaged. Not only do you want people to show up, but it's crucial that you keep them there. Having a big give-away at the beginning and end of your event is a simple way to make people show up early and stay late.

3. *RAISE FOR A CAUSE* This is crucial for a lot of fundraisers. Simple enough: you need to be associated with an affiliation (plausible and reputable might I add) so that vendors and guests WANT to come help support a good cause. This essentially gives them a reason to be there. Silent auctions can be a good way to keep your guests engaged and make them feel good about giving back.

4. *FINALLY- HAVE A GOOD MARKETING STRATEGY* How are you getting the word out to your fellow vendors and/or guests? You need to let them know about it before they can show up. Marketing 101, duh! Most people will try to cut back and save a little dough when discussing marketing, but anyone who has planned a successful event knows that this is one of the most important things you must focus on. Your event will fail if you do not market the idea first and foremost.

All four of these, plus many many more I'm sure, will all help you throw a successful event. Just don't forget the smaller picture- like food, drinks and/or decor. If you need help with anything- and we mean anything- pick up the phone and call Ace. That's what we're here for! From tents, tables, and chairs, all the way to decor, we are "the easy renting place" for your one-stop shop!

Kristen's Krazy Fact of the Day

Did you know that most people in the 1500s got married in June because they took their yearly bath in May, and therefore still smelled pretty good by June? However, because they were starting to smell bad, brides carried a bouquet of flowers to hide their body odor. Hence the custom today of carrying a boutqiet when getting married.

Isn't that crazy?! Good thing we're able to take more than one shower a YEAR! I can't even imagine...

I know it's been awhile since I've blogged because we are in the middle of our busy season and things are heating up around here! We are still waiting for the OK to make a huge announcement that we're super excited about. We can't wait to share the news with you all!

Stayed tuned and keep checking back for the big news :)

Alternative Centerpiece Ideas

No matter what type of event you're having, you'll more than likely need some sort of centerpiece to place in the middle of the table. Most people opt for fresh flowers, but some decide to get creative and use anything from feathers to food to antique jars. Here are a list of some ideas for your next event:

1. Birdhouses: you can add wheatgrass or moss to spruce it up a bit
2. Thrift-store books: you can pick the genre based on your theme
3. Pies: place an assortment of flavors on a cake stand
4. Apples & Organges: they smell wonderful and add a pop of color
5. Sports Stuff: this can be anything such as hats or baseball bats
6. Origamis: you can make all the same ones or different shapes
7. Jars of Candy: instead of a candy bar, have individual jars on each table
8. Record Albums: make each table a "turntable" and place an album on each one
9. Perfume Bottles: placing different color and sizes of antique perfume looks incredible -and smells great too!
10. Wine Bottles: you can even stick a candle in each one for a vintage effect
11. Framed Pictures: depending on your event, place different pictures in each frame
12. Seashells: place them inside a jar with sand
13. Ornaments: either go seasonal or based on your theme
14. Silk Flowers: these are becoming very popular and look very, very real
15. Candle votives: placing these on top of mirrors adds a nice warm glow

Easter is right around the corner...

Looking for something fun to do with the kids for Easter?! Something different than painting eggs and/or an Easter egg hunt?! Well keep reading... I'm from Austria so when I came across this idea on MarthaStewart.com I was extremely intrigued! Apparently, if you're from Germany or Austria, you celebrate Easter by hanging hollow eggs from the branches of a tree. I've included the link from the website so that you can follow the easy steps to making your own Easter egg tree this year. It sounds like a lot of fun and looks adorable. I envy all you mothers that have time to bring these cute little ideas to life. Hopefully you get the chance to spend some quality time with your kids while making Easter a fun and enjoyable Holiday for the whole family! http://www.marthastewart.com/good-things/easter-egg-tree?backto=true&backtourl=/photogallery/decorating-for-easter#slide_21

Your Color Problems... Solved!

After consulting with a bride last week, I came to a realization that us women tend to think along the same lines. Well we think alike in so many ways, but I'm refering to our color wheel and particular taste in color schemes. My bride was telling me how she was having a few color issues and wanted some advice as to solving them. I figured- why not share it with all of you in case you run into the same issue!

Her biggest "issue" (I put quotes around it because I didn't really find it to be a big issue- more of etiquette per say) was whether or not to go with her personal taste in color or coordinate with the season. Her wedding is in the Spring but she loves Fall colors and didn't know which one took priority over the other. I told her that although richer, darker colors went better with cooler months, she didn't have to settle for anything less. By choosing a pastel color to offset a deeper Fall color, she'd get the best of both (her) worlds. She now can't decide between a deep plum and lilac or navy blue and seamist! Oh too many choices!

She also mentioned that telling her bridesmaids that they were going to wear purple or yellow (yellow was another color she was deciding on at the time) was going to be too big of a shock to them and that they'd want to back out of her wedding. To me, a rich plum bridesmaid dress sound gorgeous! Not to mention, yellow dresses would definitely make you feel right at home for a Spring wedding. The reason those color of dresses will certainly pass any bridesmaid's "back- out- or- not- back- out" test is because there are so many shades! Let me emphasize the simple fact that "yellow" can mean anywhere from goldenrod to pale yellow to lemon chiffon. Ask them how they'd feel about sorbet-inspired pastels to liven up the Spring feel. It would contrast quite nicely with the darker Fall shades even more :)

Want any other advice? Feel free to give us a call- we're full of great ideas. OR BETTER YET- check out our 4th Annual Spring Bridal Show coming up on May 1st, 2011 at Lions Park in Zionsville from 12pm- 4pm. We'll have plenty of surprises and gifts in store for you, as well as pictures and tablescapes. Come check out what we have to offer! See you there!

4th Annual Spring Bridal Show

With only a month to go, we're all getting excited here at Ace for our 4th Annual Spring Bridal Show in Zionsville. This year it will be held at the Lions Park off 334 on Sunday, May 1st from 12-4. We're thrilled to announce that we're hosting the cake dig again this year, as well as the ping-pong drop for prizes. Last year, brides were jumping in the creek to catch ping-pong balls so that they could win all the cool prizes. It was so funny to watch! They were having a blast! There's a reason why everyone loves coming to our shows AND why vendors return year after year. Come find out why...

If you've never had the chance to come out and see one of our Bridal Shows, you definitely have to come see this one! We think it will be our best show yet! Call us at (317) 872- 8368 for more details, or go to our website at http://www.acepartyandtents.com/ to look at pictures from years past.

Hot Flower Trends in 2011

(Photo courtesy of William Blake Wildflowers)

No matter what style wedding you decide to go with, there's one thing most weddings will have in common: your need for floral arrangements. Not all weddings have floral arrangements due to particular taste- and that's perfectly ok! The best part is- you don't have to use flowers! There are so many other centerpieces to choose from that will add a unique twist to your wedding.

Since this blog post revolves around floral trends, we'll pretend that you've decided to go with that choice. Since circular tables are slowly going away and long banquet tables are becoming trendier, you have the option of going flower crazy! Long rectangular tables allow for more space and therefore lavish amounts of flowers. This can be absolutely gorgeous if done right! Another flower trend that gives you that "wow" factor just so happens to connect you with your natural side. By that I mean wildflowers! This "wild" and "naturalistic" feel will add a new element of surprise to the overall vibe of your wedding theme. This is a great idea because you can incorporate different pieces of wood and bark (think accorns, etc) or moss (think greens and cream colors). I love outdoor weddings; fully equipped with the a "one with nature" ambiance. Fabulous!

The last floral trend I'm going to share today involves crystals and jewels. It's the next big thing for brides to add crystals to their bouquet and table arrangements; all the while matching their dress. Setting a few crystals in the middle of each table looks fabulous- especially if you're using votive candles and mirrors for centerpieces. Even better- throw in some pearls to soften the glow and you've got yourself a picture perfect setting. Give us a call today for your rental needs such as tables, tents, chairs, linens, etc. We're here to help make your planning process run smoothly from start to finish!

Wedding Etiquette 101: Who Pays For What?

Alright, so now that you're engaged, all the fun of planning your wedding can begin! But where to even start? First, you need to sit down and figure out a budget (yes, even with a calculator if need be). Budgeting is going to be a fairly big deal and you want to make sure you don't overdo yourselves. If you and your fiance are paying for the entire wedding, then good for you! If your parents will be helping out, then there are a few things you might want to take notes on and discuss with them later. This blog post today is designed to help figure out who pays for what (courtesy of TheKnot.com). I hope it's helpful...

Bride and bride's family:

Church/ Ceremony

Bride's dress & accessories

Flower arrangements for ceremony and reception, plus bouquets for bridesmaids and flower girl

All photos and videos

Pays for and plans bridesmaid luncheon

All professional services for reception, including drinks, entertainment, etc.

Professional services (event planners)- THAT'S US!

Groom's ring

Invitations, stationery, wedding programs, etc. Transportation for bridal party

Groom and groom's family:

Marriage license and officiant's fee

Tux and accessories

Bride's bouquet, boutonnieres for men, and corsages for (grand)mothers

Honeymoon

Rehearsal Dinner

Bachelor's Dinner

Both of the bride's rings

Most people think that the bride and bride's family has to pay for more of the wedding, but once you add it all up, it's pretty even. Especially if they plan on going somewhere really neat for their honeymoon! All in all, this is supposed to be one of the best days of your life so don't stress out over money. My number one rule: pick your budget and stick to it.

And remember to call us if you need any sort of professional help- even if it's just the day-of. We're more than happy to help!

Costco Weddings

In case you were unaware that Costco now offers a wide platform of wedding accessories, I wanted to share a little bit of information that I recently came across. I was doing some research for our upcoming Bridal Show (May 1 from 12- 4pm at Zionsville Lions Park in Zionsville- go to http://www.acepartyandtents.com/ for more info), and stubbled upon Costco's many versitile options. Not only do they offer engagement and wedding rings, but they also have a wide array of invitations, gorgeous flower arrangements, and -best of all- food galore! They've got great prices that are hard to beat and their stuff is actually really neat (haha that rhymed). It's not necessarily something I would have expected from a wholesale store but I am so pumped about this new discovery. I think any budget-friendly bride should at least check them out.
Besides having everything you need all in one place, you can also register at Costco to get all sorts of gift certificates! Everyone asks for new waffle makers, etc but no one thinks about how expensive everyday items like dishwasher fluid and food can be. I think this is a great gift for a newlywed! I'll keep you updated, but the dresses are making their way to mainstream stores all over the United States. As of right now, I believe they are mainly in Chicago and California. I've had a chance to check some of them out and they are pretty spectacular! How awesome is that?! I would have never thought about using them but it is a great idea!

Here's their website- you've got to check them out! Hopefully you'll be as thrilled as I am!

Party in style

Since everyone is booking their graduation parties, I thought I would blog today about different drink options to have at your party. Here are a few of my favorites:

Lemonade (from Martha Stewart):
3 cups lemon or lime juice, about 20 lemons or 25 limes freshly squeezed
2 cups superfine sugar
4 cups cold water
4 cups ice
2 lemons or limes, thinly sliced for garnish

Pomegranate Soda (from Everyday Food):
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup pomegranate juice
club soda, for serving
maraschino cherries, for garnish

Pineapple-Mint Lemonade (from Favorite Brand):
1 cup sugar
2/3 cups water
1 can (46 oz) pineapple juice
1 cup lemon juice
1/3 cup chopped mint
1) Combine sugar and water in large saucepan, bring to boil. Boil 1 minute; remove from heat.
2) Stir in pineapple juice, lemon juice, and chopped mint; let stand for 15 minutes.
3) Strain lemonade into large pitcher, discard mint. Serve over ice.

All of these sound absolutely yummy! I can't wait to try them all. Now someone needs to invite me to their party- ha! If you're in need of any rental items, check out our website at http://www.acepartyandtents.com/ or give us a call at (317) 872- 8368. We've got tables, tents, chairs, and more! 10 Outdoor Wedding Tips

Hello fellow bloggers ...happy Wednesday!

If you've recently gotten engaged and you're starting to think about what kind of wedding you want... listen up! There are numerous ways and styles of weddings you can choose from, or even create a wedding unique like you and your (future) spouse. I love outdoor weddings because there's nothing more beautiful than a wedding under a large tent with fresh flowers and sunlight shining down on the bride on her special day. Therefore, I thought I'd share a few tips with you for a perfect outdoor wedding (well, nothing is perfect but you can't be overly prepared)!

#1 Make sure everyone can visibly see and hear you. If you're getting married by the ocean, you definitely want to make sure you wear some sort of microphone.

#2 Make sure you pick the right season and/or weather. No one wants to sit outside in 30 degree weather, nor do they want to sit under the sun in 90 degree weather!

#3 Dont' forget the details. Even though the natural beauty of the outdoors will lessen your need to decorate, you still need to keep in mind all the little details that will spruce up the wedding.

#4 Something else that falls into the "details" category is making sure that you place citronella candles around the tent in case of mosquitos or other bugs. Your bridesmaids might be a little angry if they have red bumps up and down their legs!

#5 Make sure you have a backup plan in case of severe weather. You can have your ceremony or reception under a tent, but only for moederate rain. You can also rent sides for the tent to block off the sun or rain. Having an indoor venue as a backup may not be a bad idea.

#6 Plan the food accordingly. Make sure your caterer knows how to serve an outdoor wedding. Keep away from mayonnaise based foods, for example, that need to be kept cold.

#7 Timing is everything. Along with the weather tip, make sure you plan the ceremony according to the sunset as your guests are there to see you exchange vows, afterall.

#8 Plan ahead for a windy time! Most outdoor weddings will experience some wind, so make sure and tell your hairdresser that you're having an outdoor wedding. Also, you may want to opt for another fabric on your dress rather than a light chiffon- that goes for bridesmaid dresses as well!

#9 Not all your guests drink alcohol; plus it's dehydrating. Make sure to have plenty of other options such as lemonade, ice teas, and water.

#10 Last but not least, make sure you get the appropriate permits and all the paperwork has been filed. That is definitely not something you want to deal with the day of your wedding.

I hope this helps plan your dream wedding! We have you covered if you're in need of tables, chairs, and especially tents. From different sizes and style tents to choose from, we'll help you every step of the way! Give us a call today!

Whew. Say hello to the 2nd week of March already!

We now have a NEW follower! Thank you and welcome aboard...

The Ace Team would like to remind those of you who are planning graduation parties that we are currently offering a 'Grad Pack' to help save you $$ and make things a heck of a lot easier!

We are also reminding the crazy fools (like myself) that attend the Indianapolis 500 in May, and also all the parties, that our tables, tents, and chairs are booking quickly. It's well worth it to take a minute out of your busy day to call us and make your reservation before it's too late. We can't help you throw the best 500 party on your block if you wait until the last minute!

Don't forget: Mark your calendars for May 1st, 2011 from 12-4pm for our 4th Annual Spring Bridal Show located at Lions Park in downtown Zionsville. We pride ourselves in hosting one of the best Bridal Shows in Indy each year and look forward to working with all the returning vendors- and all the new ones! There's a reason why you keep hearing about our show... it could be the fact that a plane flies over our 8,000 sq ft tent and releases ping pong balls that correlate to several prizes at the show... or maybe that at last year's show brides were jumping into the creek just to grab ping pong balls... OR maybe it's the smaller, more intimate environment that makes our brides feel special that you keep hearing about. Either way, it's even better than you think! You'll just have to see for yourself.

Since it's already the 2nd week of March (time flies when you're having fun- or at least that's what my mom always told me), we know your to-do list tends to get longer and longer. We're always offering our assistance with your party planning, so get to it. We've got more tips and ideas than we know what to do with!

Let us ACE your next event!

4th Annual Spring Bridal Show

Hello fellow friends and bloggers! Happy Thursday!

We just wanted to remind you that our 4th Annual Spring Bridal Show is in a few weeks. This year it is being held at Zionsville Lions Park on May 1st, from 12-4PM. If you're a local vendor and would like to participate in this fantastic event, please refer to our website to download the contract, or let us know and we can send/fax you a copy. If you're a bride, feel free to stop by for a chance to meet with local vendors, as well as win some really cool prizes.

Our Spring Bridal Show takes place under an 8,000 sq ft wedding tent (which is gorgeous, might I add)! Because of its size and location, we offer a smaller, more intimate environment so each bride can interact with the vendors directly. We'll have fun games set up, such as a cake dig, for prizes; not to mention the annual plane that flies over the park. If you haven't had the pleasure of attending in the past, the plane I'm referring to flies over the Bridal Show and drops ping-pong balls with specific numbers on them that correlate with prizes. Trust us, you don't want to miss that! It is so much fun and brides go crazy (good crazy, of course) over this game! Some even jump in the creek just to win prizes from the local vendors!

Let us know if you have any further questions or visit our website at http://www.acepartyandtents.com/ for more information. You can check out the photo gallery on our website from past Bridal Shows too. You can always email me at kristen@acepartyandtents.com as well.

Hopefully we'll see you there!

Are YOU a "typical bride"

Are YOU a "typical bride" in Indianapolis and the surrounding areas? According to The Knot, I found a few statistics that narrow down what an average bride these days would "look like" (or whom she would be). See how many of the following categories you fall in:

Your Average Indiana Bride listed on The Knot:

*58% of brides are between 25 and 34
*median HHI is $65,385
*95% are college-educated
*68% are employed full-time
*average length of engagement is 13 months
*40% begin wedding planning more than a year in advance
*average amount spent on a wedding is $20,560
*average number of wedding guests is 169
*26% of brides have more than 200 guests
*50% prefer summer weddings & 27% prefer Fall

Most of these numbers make sense and the statistics are not all that surprising to me. If you are NOT in the majority of these categories, please comment below. We'd love to hear how your wedding may be different!

If you are in the process of planning your outdoor wedding and are looking for tents, tables, chairs, linens, flatware, etc etc then email us or call at (317) 872- 8368. Happy planning!

Friday's "Eat This, Not That" Tip of the Day

Good Afternoon and Happy Friday to all you beautiful people following us out there in the Blogger world!

I decided to spice it up a little and blog about my favorite thing... sweets. Desserts: cookies, brownies, ice cream, candy bars... you name it, I want it. I came across an article entitled "7 Desserts that Fight Fat" and thought I was going to have a mini heart attack. A dessert that fights fat? No. Way. If my loved ones bought me candy every year on Christmas, I'm pretty sure I'd be the happiest girl on this planet. A nice pair of earrings, bleh. A nice juicy cookie, score!

Anyway, I've attached the link for the article below. I figured since we're constantly talking weddings, I'd share my discovery of sweets that women can eat while still maintaining that stick thin figure to fit into their wedding dress. Just to burst your bubble a little bit, these desserts don't actually fight fat like the title entails, but the author of "Eat This, Not That" provides a few desserts he recommends eating if you're trying to watch the never-ending, expanding waistband.

One of my favorites on the list is the Wendy's chocolate frosty. I love that darn thing! It's nice to know that it's not all that bad for you, especially compared to some of the other items. The only bad thing about reading this article is that now I'm well aware of how bad cheesecake is for you. I was thinking of a possible cheesecake cake for my wedding.. maybe I'll have to re-think that idea. Hmm.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy the article as much as I did. Consider these desserts before you go on your eat-nothing-but-soup-for-a-month-before-your-wedding diet. If you don't want a typical cake at your wedding, you could always have a candy bar instead (this article mentions eating dark chocolate because it's less fattening and healthier for you). Just an idea!
Have a great weekend. Here's the article if you'd like to read it: http://health.yahoo.net/experts/eatthis/7-desserts-fight-fat

Graduation Party Tips

Can you believe we're half way through February already?! I mean, I feel like I was just eating a turkey-less Thanksgiving day meal with my family as if it were yesterday. Then with a blink of an eye, it was Christmas. Then of course, next came the best day of the year (my birthday, January 17th). Now I'm looking at the calendar dreaming about the upcoming bachelorette parties I'll be attending for my besties within the next few months. As overwhelming as it is, I'm getting really exciting.

The next big thing for high schoolers and college students is graduation. This can be an overwhelming time for those in charge of planning the graduation party. Not to fear, ACE is here! If you have any questions, feel free to visit our website at http://www.acepartyandtents.com/ or give us a call anytime M-F 9-5 at (317) 872-8368. We're more than happy to help you through the process.

In the meantime, here are some pre-planning tips before you begin:

First of all, it's hard to get an idea of how many people to expect because people show up at different times- hence an "open house" graduation style party. Expect your guests spread out during the entire time as opposed to all at once.

Most often though, your typical graduation party will require a 20X30 or 20X40 size tent. A 20X30 tent will hold about 6 tables: 4 tables for seating, 1 table to set food on, and 1 for memorabilia. Remember, this is for your standard backyard graduation party. You can always go with a bigger tent if you choose to have extra space... or if you're attempting to invite the entire school and surrounding neighborhoods! Ha!

Another tip to keep in mind when it comes to planning a graduation party is to decorate with a matching theme. This can be the high school in which the student attended or the college that they're planning to attend. We have several different color tents to choose from that you can color coordinate to fit the theme (just to clarify, it's one single stripe along the top perimeter of the tent). We also have chairs, flatware, linens, and much more.

Let us know how we can help take away some of your stress. We're here to make your event run as smoothly as possible. You can check out pricing and pictures online, or feel free to stop in anytime during business hours. Let us ACE your next event!

Wedding 2011 Tuxedo Trends

Photograph courtesy of Freeman Formalwear

*Alright this one if for all you fellas out there. I always blog about
wedding dresses and things for the brides... I suppose I can
blog about the groom for once! I did a Google search for
tuxedo trends and came up with 5 things that
were the trendiest of them all.

*The first trend for this year is a fitted suit. There's nothing sexier
(in my opinion, of course) than a guy in a slim suit that accentuates
his body. According to my research, a shorter, slim- fitting coat with a
pleated pant leg is uber chic. Every guy wants to be uber chic, right?! LOL.

*This second one is surprising to me, but apparently earth tones are
taking over. Warm cocoa and chocolate colored suits are sweeping
the nation, equipped with crimson, cinnamon and tan as
accent colors.

*If you're not huge on the whole "brown is the new black" fad, the
third trend incorporates detail such as stripes on the coat, vest,
and pantleg. Think same-toned stripes, not pinstriped or bright colors.

*Not all grooms are big on wearing formal coats for their
wedding so they opt for vests instead. This is another huge trend
for 2011. I'm diggin' that because I love a man in a vest!

*The fifth and final trend is adding detail to your everyday
suit. Peak and notch lapels are big on the red carpet,
according to research.

ATTENTION NEW BRIDES-TO-BE

Hello ladies and congratulations on your engagement! There's nothing more exciting than becoming a bride (well, besides maybe becoming a new mom). Thanks to a few friends in the industry, and not to mention the one-and-only Facebook, I am totally and completely head over heels in LOVE with the new line of wedding dresses by... wait for it... Anthropologie! Yes, Anthropologie just came out with a line of gorgeous wedding dresses that will be available for purchase on Monday, February 14th.

I put the link at the bottom of this blog for you to check out on your own. I don't think I can express how amazed I am at this line. I love the ultra-funky style dresses that make you glow like you've been hand fed diamonds. Every bride wants to look her best, and in my opinion, wearing one of these dresses will do any bride justice. Now you have to narrow it down to just one! Ha, good luck with that!

Friday Tip of the Day

For those of you uninterested in your typical Bachelor/ Bachelorette party, there are numerous things you can do instead. Although traditionally held for the bridesmaid as a bridesmaid luncheon, plan a "thank you" event for your entire bridal party. Remember to incorporate the theme of your wedding into this event as well. For example, if you are getting married on a beach you can host a casual barbeque luncheon and invite both sides of the bridal party. Plan a fun activity like beach volleyball or a fun (but competitive) sandcastle building contest- the groosmen against bridesmaids! This allows each member to get to know one another before the big day, especially considering most are childhood friends and those that mean the most to the bride and groom. It's a perfect setting for introductions and a great way to relax together. This is also a prime time to give each member of your bridal party their wedding gift.

Hosting this event a month or so before the big day is the norm, but if there are out-of-town guests that have to fly in, 2 or 3 days prior to the wedding is just fine. This can be seperate from the rehearsal dinner or you can combine the two. Either way, pour me a big glass of wine!

2011 Wedding Favor Trends

Apparently your typical wedding favors are getting trendier and trendier each year, just like dresses and centerpieces! Most bride and grooms opt for bubbles or something for keep sake; but not this year. The trend for 2011 is... drum roll please... edible favors. My favorite!! Edible candies such as M&Ms, chocolate candy bars, life savers, etc. are all the rage. I think personalized candy bars (like some do for baby showers) are a great idea. Another edible wedding favor I love is personalized coffee or tea packets. So cute and practical. Depends on your budget I suppose, but chic none-the-less.

A few other edible ideas would include: jams, dried fruits, nuts, candies, cookies, or breath mints. All of these unique wedding favors will be sure to fill Aunt Sally's sweet tooth!
If you have any suggestions/ ideas for wedding favors, please comment below. We'd love to hear from you!

56 days.... until St. Patrick's Day!

Do you have your plans set for St. Patrick's Day this year? This joyous holiday happens to fall on a Thursday and it seems as if everyone has big plans this year!

Each and every St. Patrick's Day I get all dressed up in green and end up drinking green beer- just like everyone else my age! Normally these festivities occur at a local bar in the infamous Broad Ripple. It's always a good time, don't get me wrong, but I think it's about time I have a party at my house. Just imagine a huge tent in my back yard with green lights around the perimeter and a large keg pumping out loads of green Miller Lite. Sounds like a good ol' time to me! We could even play "Pin the Tail on the Leprechaun" or something equally as charming. Haha!

If you're planning on hosting a party of your own, give us a call for any of your rental needs. We've got you covered on tents, tables, chairs, linens... and much, much more! Book now to find out how you can save 20% on any specialty linens. Call (317) 872-8368 for more information.

2011 Wedding Trends continued...

For those of you who think they know everything about fashion and what's hot, I'll let you in on a little secret. There are a few fabrics that I wouldn't have thought would be super trendy but apparently are the hottest thing since parachute pants. Well, you know what I mean. I think your traditional lace and silk wedding dresses are pretty normal, but a dress made of Tulle? It's beautiful, don't get me wrong, but odd to me at the same time.

Lace is still a hot fabric that I don't think will be going away anytime soon. Lace provides girly and elegant designs but with an added twist for maintaining 2011's modern- style.

Ballgowns are still at the top of the list... mainly so that brides can live out their princess inspired childhood dreams. Picture a little girl describing her dream wedding; fully equipped with a tiara and wand. Nothing wrong with this style dress, obviously, since it remains trendiest of all trends.

Soft colored dresses are becoming more and more common as well. Let there be light! For those of us that (sound of a throat clear inserted here, please) that um, shouldn't wear white on their wedding day, you now have other color options such as blush pink to choose from! Halelujah!

Trumpet gowns continue to rise up the food chain as a popular style wedding dress for those who dare to wear a hip -hugging, curve -loving dress. It is super feminine and flattering; leaving brides feeling sexy on their special day.

Detailed dresses are also hitting the charts this year. Subtle textures such as elegant flowers and ruffles are being added to wedding dresses for a bold statement. Look at me, look at me! Haha no but seriously, they are absolutely gorgeous and can dress up any simple gown.

Just from this short list, I can already picture dozens of brides dazzling their grooms in these gorgeous dresses! I can't wait for wedding season! If you need any help planning your special day, give us a call. We're here to help with all your rental needs and planning tips. We are happy to assist you every step of the way and will make sure everything runs smoothly on your special day!

Spring 2011 Wedding Dress Trends

Everyone is different. Everyone has their own taste when it comes to wedding dresses. However, there are certain trends that "the experts" say are more popular than others. I absolutely love being different and therefore wearing a different style gown. Vera Wang has very unqiue styles that look flattering on many different body types. The picture above shows the popular style dress made of Tulle, which gives the dress a 3 dimensional touch. According to the experts, Tulle and Organza are sweeping the nation and are 2011's hottest styles. I love this dress... it's to die for! I would still go with a white dress (well, let's be serious, not white- off white), but this style is gorgeous. I like that it adds details, layering, and what I like to call fluff (or what others would simply call volume). The fabric alone adds multiple layers and dimensions, not to mention drama and sophistication. With the sash on this dress, you're not only getting the bold draping effect from the layers of silk Tulle, but an enhancing waistline as well. Everyone woman wants a tiny waist but not necessarily the sash look. However, this dress seems to be almost made with the sash in mind. It is light and airy which make warm summer weather weddings a perfect fit. Love it!!

Valentine's what?!!

Happy New Year everyone! Wow... it's only been 8 days and I already feel like this is going to be a great year! If only I could remember to write 2011 instead of 2010...

With Thanksgiving and Christmas over and done with, people are looking for the next big Holiday to celebrate. Unfortunately for us single people, it's the dreaded (and what I like to call the "Hallmark Holiday") Valentine's Day. Ugh, hang on I think I just threw up in my mouth a little. Even when I was in a long term relationship, I always hated this Holiday! Why can't a girl get flowers on any normal, random Tuesday just for the heck of it! Gentlemen, listen up: if you want all the fun stuff that comes with Valentine's Day (you know what I'm talking about), then buy your woman flowers just to say 'I love you for you'! Trust me, it will work wonders and will probably get you farther than only showing your affection on that ridiculous day! Okay okay, time to get off my soap box...

On the plus side, it's fun to decorate because my favorite colors just so happen to be pink and red. If you're like me and don't have the money to buy, or the space to store, every single decoration for every single Holiday, then you'll have to stick to daydreaming or Google-ing for ideas. I love passing the time by searching for new centerpiece ideas and ways to creatively put together countless shades of pink and red. Some people may say you can't mix reds with pinks (just like browns and blacks), but I say do what you want. As long as its not tacky, I think there's nothing more elegant than a light shade of pink with a taste of bold red for a dramatic effect. If you think about it, it's really the same color, what with one absorbing more white than the other. Just look at this gorgeous pink napkin and how it makes the red table linen pop! This picture is so simple and yet says so much. I'm really feeling the love here! With these two colors, you can get as playful as you'd like or choose to set the mood in a more romantic manner. Roses are a wonderful touch as a centerpiece and can be arranged in such a way to reflect your personal style.
If you get stuck in the process, feel free to give us a call. That's what we're here for! And trust me, I may not enjoy the Holiday itself, but I know how to make it look pretty! We've also got you covered on your tables, chairs, linens, etc. Check us out at www.acepartyandtents.com.
