Help Make Your Next Event Bigger Than Ever

There are a few ways to grab the attention of potential party- goers but you need to know what they are first. Having a large network of friends/collegues/ employers/ etc etc is a great start but you still need to entice them somehow. Have you ever tried putting on an event (could be anything) and NO ONE SHOWS UP?! It's an awful feeling. Everyone wants to be the cool kid and have the biggest, baddest party. Here are a few tips to get you started:

1. *CHOOSE A GOOD LOCATION* This goes for businesses and everything else in the world. If you plan an event in a bad area of town, that may deter people from coming. If you plan your event out in BFE (if you don't know what BFE stands for, Google it) then you may lose the people who don't want to drive more than a couple miles. Plan accordingly.

2. *YOU MUST HAVE A HOOK* This is what I briefly touched upon at the beginning. Your event must have some kind of participation from vendors or guests to keep them engaged. Not only do you want people to show up, but it's crucial that you keep them there. Having a big give-away at the beginning and end of your event is a simple way to make people show up early and stay late.

3. *RAISE FOR A CAUSE* This is crucial for a lot of fundraisers. Simple enough: you need to be associated with an affiliation (plausible and reputable might I add) so that vendors and guests WANT to come help support a good cause. This essentially gives them a reason to be there. Silent auctions can be a good way to keep your guests engaged and make them feel good about giving back.

4. *FINALLY- HAVE A GOOD MARKETING STRATEGY* How are you getting the word out to your fellow vendors and/or guests? You need to let them know about it before they can show up. Marketing 101, duh! Most people will try to cut back and save a little dough when discussing marketing, but anyone who has planned a successful event knows that this is one of the most important things you must focus on. Your event will fail if you do not market the idea first and foremost.

All four of these, plus many many more I'm sure, will all help you throw a successful event. Just don't forget the smaller picture- like food, drinks and/or decor.
